Carleen Wesson studied art at the University of Tennessee, where she received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and did doctorate studies. She remained interested in various art forms throughout her professional careers in engineering drafting and airline marketing. Carleen created "Wesson Oils" in 1995 and devoted her full attention to artistic consultation for home and business. She has worked primarily with interior decorators with emphasis on custom designs, painted furniture and faux finishes. Corporate ads have included samples of her work in Architectural Digest, Atlanta HOMES and Lifestyles, Traditional Home and Veranda.

Currently, her special interest is impressionistic oil portraits of children and animals.
